Signing for a brilliant collab, French soul house maestro Michael Calfan joins forces with Brazilian hot shot Selva, presenting their mesmerizing new single “Fall To Pieces.” Featuring US singer Jex on vocals, the record builds a beautiful bridge between affective songwriting and deep, immersive house music, enchanting the crowd with warm piano chords and distorted horns. Such a melancholic piece of dance music, out now on Spinnin’ Records.

Michael Calfan has been renowned for his soul house sound, ever since the world was introduced to his claim to fame hits “Treasured Soul” and “Nobody Does It Better” in the mid 10’s. Characterized by joyous chords, inspired vocals and piano driven grooves, the French DJ/producer continued to enhance his music, including last year’s powerful house tune “Wild Night”, and recent remixes for Sia and Jason Derulo.

Teaming up with Selva works wonders. Also making waves for many years already, the Brazilian DJ/producer has grown to become one of Latin America’s tastemakers, leaning on a versatile sound ranging between melodic deep house and sweet pop hooks. From 2018’s hit “I Miss U,” a collab with Alok, to his skillfull remake of 90’s hit “Children” (alongside Kohen) to his recent remix of Sofi Tukker’s “Summer In New York” (together with Dubdogz), the vibe of Selva never ceases to surprise.

“Fall To Pieces” underscores how these artists bring out the best in each other. Both Calfan and Selva have covered their tracks with compelling pop and deep house, this time lifting things up with Jex’ tempting vocals, showcasing her versatility and emotionally charged sound.

Following these strong pop hooks, slumbering rhythms take over, letting the record dive into a powerful drop in the deep, featuring hypnotizing, swirling horns. From there, the heat is on, as both producers let the beat go sky high on the wings of dreamy piano chords.

Perfectly blending melancholic songwriting and lively house music, “Fall To Pieces” easily works as a festival highlight, while also turning into a streaming and radio favorite. It’s exactly the apotheosis you’d hope for with these two seasoned producers joining forces, this French-Brazilian connection does the job marvelously.
