Global music streaming service\u00a0Deezer<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0continues to celebrate the legacy of\u00a0Beethoven<\/strong>\u00a0with a star-studded remix compilation, available\u00a0Tuesday 27th April<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Beethoven Remixed<\/em><\/strong><\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>an extensive, 14-track release, gives music fans the chance to hear their favorite electronic artists mash up the concert hall with the dance floor. Each track features innovative, modern-day reimaginings of some of classical music\u2019s most iconic compositions, such as\u00a0\u201cMoonlight Sonata,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0the most popular piano piece sampled by our featured DJs. This boundary-pushing and first-of-its-kind release combines the timeless sounds of classical music, with the infectious vibrancy of contemporary electronica, like never before.<\/p>\n

Highlights include a remix from EDM behemoth\u00a0Steve Aoki<\/strong>, who delivers a slick, club-ready take on the iconic\u00a0\u201cPath\u00e9tique Sonata,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0while losing none of the sophisticated emotion that characterises the original composition.
\n“Out of all the compositions that I heard from Beethoven that I was able to remix, I picked \u201cPath\u00e9tique\u201d because it spoke to me the most,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>S<\/em>teve Aoki\u00a0<\/strong>explains.\u00a0\u201cWhen I’m in the studio and I\u2019m listening to all the different samples or different ways that I could remix, I heard elements in \u201cPath\u00e9tique\u201d that I knew I could start tinkering with. And as I went down that road, it just felt natural.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dutch duo\u00a0Blasterjaxx<\/strong>\u00a0rework the similarly cherished\u00a0\u201cMoonlight Sonata\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>,juxtaposing its understated beauty with a mammoth drop. Aussie twins\u00a0NERVO<\/strong>\u00a0opt for a more refined, cinematic reinterpretation of the same composition, while Parisian rave queen\u00a0Anetha<\/strong>\u00a0sculpts it into a pounding techno cut.<\/p>\n

NERVO<\/strong>\u00a0added:\u00a0“We chose the \u201cMoonlight Sonata\u201d because the piano playing is nothing we could ever do. It was such a privilege to be able to work with that, and 132 bpm is great for a dance record and the sample worked well with that! We added the main melody with a cello, which added warmth to the record. We played around with this, we thought we would go harder with a synth sound, but ended coming back to the cello.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Additionally, New York don\u00a0GATT\u00dcSO\u00a0<\/strong>perfectly captures the monumental energy of\u00a0\u201c5th Symphony\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>with his rollicking, bass-heavy edit. French wizard\u00a0WorakIs<\/strong>, already known for combining electronic music with orchestras, keeps things closer to the symphony hall than the club with his bracing rework of\u00a0\u201cSymphony No. 9.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Belgian favorite\u00a0The Magician<\/strong>\u00a0whisks listeners away with his otherworldly remix of\u00a0\u201cMoonlight Sonata,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0while\u00a0 Jean-Beno\u00eet Dunckel<\/strong>, better known as one half of iconic 90s duo\u00a0Air<\/strong>, crafts a glistening, piano-led dose of electronica with his abstract take on\u00a0\u201cSymphony No. 7.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

GATT\u00dcSO<\/strong>\u00a0comments:\u00a0“I decided to pick this melody because I played saxophone for 12, 13 years as a kid, so I knew classical music and Beethoven amongst the other geniuses. When I had the opportunity to take the melody and bring festival vibes into it it was amazing for me and the result is epic!”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
