Claptone<\/strong>, the mysterious DJ and producer releases his third studio album,\u00a0Closer<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0via\u00a0Different Recordings \/ PIAS<\/strong>,\u00a0featuring a string of collaborators and pop icons including\u00a0Barry Manilow<\/strong>,\u00a0Seal\u00a0<\/strong>and many more.<\/p>\n

Closer\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>has been in the making for\u00a0over three years and showcases a natural development in sound for\u00a0Claptone<\/strong>. The album\u00a0has been co-produced by\u00a0Stuart Price<\/strong>, the three-time Grammy-winning electronic musician, DJ, songwriter, and record producer known for his work with artists such as\u00a0Madonna<\/strong>,\u00a0The Killers<\/strong>,\u00a0Dua Lipa<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Pet Shop Boys<\/strong>. The aptly titled album is the next phase of the enigmatic artist\u2019s musical evolution following the 2018 LP,\u00a0Fantast\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>and the 2015 debut,\u00a0Charmer<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Closer is about the joy and sometimes the pain of being human. It\u2019s an ode to togetherness as well as empowerment, to heartache as well as bliss. I celebrate emotions. I allow myself to get closer to human beings and be human on the quest for my soul.\u00a0Charmer was merely an introduction from a mystic being coming out of the shadows. On\u00a0Fantast, I tried to find my roots in nature, and it was more of an escapist album, whereas\u00a0Closer\u00a0embraces people and the universe inside them.\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Claptone<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Joining\u00a0Claptone<\/strong>\u00a0on his mission to embrace people, the album features a host of diverse global collaborators.\u00a0Peter Bjorn and John\u00a0<\/strong>take centre stage on\u00a0Satellite<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>with\u00a0Seal\u00a0<\/strong>providing original vocals on\u00a0Just A Ghost<\/em><\/strong>. The album balances both iconic names with established artists and exciting new talent as\u00a0Claptone\u00a0<\/strong>enlists\u00a0Mayer Hawthorne, Mansionair, APRE<\/strong>,\u00a0Dizzy<\/strong>,\u00a0SPELLES<\/strong>,\u00a0lau.ra,<\/strong>\u00a0Two Another\u00a0<\/strong>and long-time\u00a0Claptone\u00a0<\/strong>collaborator,\u00a0Nathan Nicholson<\/strong>,\u00a0ex-singer of\u00a0The Boxer Rebellion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Closer\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>also features a surprise and intriguing pairing between\u00a0Claptone\u00a0<\/strong>and American pop icon and showman,\u00a0Barry Manilow<\/strong>.\u00a0A further exhibition of\u00a0Claptone\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>critical acclaim which spans across the realms of the underground to Pop Music,\u00a0the collaboration took flight\u00a0when\u00a0Claptone\u00a0<\/strong>noticed\u00a0Barry Manilow\u00a0<\/strong>taking part in a TV interview where he mentioned that his favourite act was \u201cSome guy named Claptone\u201d. \u201cSo, I hit him up. He was like, \u2018let\u2019s do something\u2019!\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Manilow (whose career spans 50 years with hits such as\u00a0Mandy<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Copacabana<\/em>) said\u00a0\u201che was looking for a Dusty Springfield\/Pet Shop Boys moment\u201d.\u00a0<\/em>That moment has now arrived, with\u00a0Barry Manilow\u00a0<\/strong>featuring on standout album track,\u00a0Nobody<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I am a perfectionist full stop. I wrote those songs and I love those songs. And I am very happy with the outcome. Here is so much substance. I love to work with unique voices, unique characters. This pushes me to deliver the best in production as well. \u2013 Claptone<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
